Building Up to the Autumn Carnival
February 2, 2012
This weekend we have Anadan resuming racing at Canterbury on Friday night. Anadan won her last start, and only the second start of her racing career, at Newcastle on 6th August. She has had a decent spell since then and we are expecting a bold showing first up at Canterbury over 1200 metres however with the state of the weather at the moment Anadan's return to racing plans may be put off for a week or so.
In Queensland, we have Knox and Lemieux racing. Knox is racing at Doomben in a Class 6 race over 1110 metres and will try to improve on his four starts for three wins and a second, with a last start win at the Sunshine Coast over 1000 metres on 8th January. Lemieux is racing at the Sunshine Coast on Friday night in a Benchmark 80 Handicap over 1100 metres. Lemieux is resuming after a spell, with his last time in work winning four races from his four starts. He has drawn the inside barrier and is well weighted.
The talented Pteryon is due to resume racing at Hawkesbury on Wednesday 8th February. Pteryon has an impressive record - from seven starts she has won three races, one second and two thirds mostly at metropolitan tracks. We are expecting good things during the Autumn with this mare. We also have Silla Regalis set to commence her racing career at Hawkesbury. Silla Regalis (Encosta De Lago / Jade Tiara) is a half sister to Sister Madly and the brilliant Silent Witness. Silla Regalis is showing very good promise in her trials to date and we are looking forward to her commencing a racing career.
Also resuming shortly we have Rekindled Alliance racing on 18th February in the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes. Ortensia is currently third favourite in the betting markets for the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap on 10th March and Mahisara is set to trial shortly in readiness for the Autumn Carnival races.
Coming up in our ranks we have a couple of very nice two year old colts that will trial shortly and show very good promise.
